Ampler Nova and Nova Pro first ebikes with USB-C charging port
Terms such as “innovative” or “game converter” should be used sparingly. Otherwise, they become arbitrary and lose their effects too quickly. However, one term is now earned from this category by Estonian manufacturer Ampler for its new Nova and Nova Pro Ebikes. Perhaps not necessarily all Ebikes. However, the USB-C interface as an EBIKE charging port-turbute is the first in the world to be described as “absolutely contemporary” and “durable”.
1. The USB-C socket becomes a real Ebike charging port
2. Evaluation of the life cycle and suitability for everyday life. Basic advantages
3. Partially smaller results require compromises
4. Range repeatedly adjusted with Ampler Nova and Ampler Nova Pro
5. Minimalism still takes
6. Ampler Nova-Ebike, an urban level
7. Ampler Nova Pro.
8. The limited selection of frames so far
1. The USB-C socket becomes a real Ebike charging port
If they do not offend true Ebikes, they will probably descend in Ebike’s annals primarily because of their obvious ability to charge the battery via USB-C connection that no other manufacturers have added yet. At least we have not encountered our research that offers you this opportunity. Apparently, this corresponds to Ampler’s own research in advance. Therefore, the manufacturer probably speaks correctly about the world’s first fully integrated USB-C charging port.
This is exactly where there has been a charging socket on the Ampler Ebikes so far-despite the lower side of the seat pipe at the side of the seat. The situation is easily achieved using standard USB-C cables. In addition to such a cable, you really only need the right charger to charge other mobile devices such as your smartphone or a laptop. However, we highly recommend using a more powerful charger. Ampler points 30 watts as the required minimum and 140 watts as optimal. Using the latter, it takes about 3.5 hours to fully charge a 336 -watt hour battery. If the charger is less powerful, the charging time is extended accordingly. Because there are many options between the minimum and optimal, it depends on the appropriate model of what will be the result in your case. However, according to the manufacturer, even with 30 -watted charging power, the next morning, the completely charged completely empty battery is again completely charged.
2. Evaluation of the life cycle and suitability for everyday life. Basic advantages
The charging time of the Ampler Nova and Ampler Nova Pro can be significantly increased compared to regular devices. However, the manufacturer’s decision scored points in other areas. First, each EBIKE with a USB-C charging socket requires a two-component less-engraver and charging cable. The transition to the USB-C standard means that many households can use already available things. Based on Ampler’s research, there are 11,000 tons of charges worldwide every year, which no one used and then is eventually electronic waste. The manufacturer wants to reduce this mass.
Second, the usual mobile device charger weighs much less than Bosch, Shimano, Brose and Co. Systems charger 140 watt USB-C power adapter weighs only 360 grams from Apple. In turn, it can be used to charge iPhone, iPad and MacBooks. It is also much smaller and can be quickly attached to your suitcase. We have already mentioned the third advantage: many of its uses. It is therefore not surprising that the Ampler mentions that the USB-C port will slowly find its way to other models and become the only standard in a row.
3. Partially smaller results require compromises
Of course, the truth also includes that connection may require several compromises. First of all, simple smartphone charkers are not candidates charged with Nova and Nova Pro Ebike. Their charging option is up to 20 watts, simply not enough. Devices that provide just over 30 watts meet the minimum requirements. However, they significantly increase charging time. This is not a problem if you are not using Ebike Daily or you can always take enough time to charge into a regular schedule. In other words, if your daily routine is suitable for this concept, it can be a great accessory, but it will not be in every case. Nevertheless, we think it’s great that Ampler finally tests the USB-C charging port. It is amazing if there was no one or two imitator in the near future.
